Address:
755 Gloucester Tops Road , Faulkland, NSW 2422, Australia
Description:
** 360-degrees of beauty **
Nestled atop a gentle rise in the secluded Gloucester River valley lies 13 Moons, a magical place of misty sunrises, lazy days and embered sunsets. Escape the stress of the city and unwind in this contemporary brick cottage set on 28 green acres close to Barrington Tops National Park north-west of Newcastle, about 2.5 hours from the F3 turnoff at Wahroonga.
Be welcomed to nature by this splendid rural property that offers postcard views in all directions with no neighbours in sight, truly 360-degrees of beauty. Bird-watch from the rose arbour or spot local wildlife on easy walks around the district. At nearby Gloucester Tops, enjoy the very best of Barrington Tops National Park - step into the endless green of the Antarctic Beech forest, stroll through snow gum meadows and hike high-country rivers and falls.
** Perfect for nature seekers **
The farmhouse features two queen bedrooms perfect for a romantic weekend away or a relaxing holiday with friends. Boasting a cook’s kitchen and comfy furnishings, a holiday at 13 Moons allows you to get back to nature but still treat yourself to the very best comforts at the end of your day’s explorations of this renowned region.
Enjoy your farm-style breakfast in the sunroom looking out over the remarkable Bucketts Mountains, then browse the library and put your feet up with a good book. Or take an invigorating post-breakfast walk across the property or a leisurely stroll down to the Gloucester River, keeping an eye out for the local wildlife.
Surrounded by luscious gardens, fruit trees and groves of spotted gums and grevilleas, it’s the perfect place to bird-watch without even leaving the wrap-around veranda. Feel free to replenish the bird-feeder under the rose arbour – it’s a great way to meet the friendly king parrots up close. And look out for the family of grey-crowned babblers – a threatened species – whose communal nests are dotted in trees around the house.
The property’s location provides amazing ‘big sky’ days where the passing clouds look like last-minute touches to your very own real-life landscape painting. Let your senses enjoy the bountiful fragrant rose garden as you sip an evening cocktail under the arbour’s soft glow of fairy-lights. Or simply take a beer out onto the grassy banks and watch the sun set over the distant Barrington Tops National Park, just 30 minutes drive away. The evening summer serenade of the land will lull you to sleep; or during the cooler months the warmth of the slow-combustion wood fire will be your comfy companion.

The charming town of Gloucester is a 15 minute drive away on fully sealed road and offers everything from the essentials of supermarket and bottle shop to great cafes, book stores, local arts and crafts and the region’s information centre. It’s known as the Basecamp to the Barrington Tops, being the closest town to the National Park, so be sure to call into the office of the National Parks and Wildlife Service for maps and exploring advice.
Besides it’s glorious location, Gloucester is also endowed with a diverse selection of sporting activities at the Recreation Park including a brand new hydrotherapy pool; at the Gloucester District Park you can enjoy an easy walk under towering trees surrounding riverside meadows which is a perfect stop for a picnic or barbecue and to listen to the soothing sound of the Gloucester River on its pebbled journey to the sea; elsewhere there are inspiring views from several look-outs, while the setting of the golf club must be the prettiest in the state!
In just 30 minutes you can drive to the spectacular Gloucester Tops within the world heritage-listed Barrington Tops National Park, with many beautiful walks around the rivers, forests and falls.
